A Master Model is created with all part features and finishing details to be reflected in the mold.
A fast curing silicone rubber mold is produced using the Master Model as a pattern.
ARRK injects our two-part urethanes into the mold inside vacuum pressure chambers.
Cured parts removed from the mold precisely and consistently duplicate the master model.

CREATING CUSTOM MANUFACTURED URETHANE CASTINGS

A master model is often 3D printed using Stereolithography for its ability to be finely finished. Additionally, CNC master models are also a good choice, primarily because of their strength and ability to produce more significant quantities with tighter overall tolerances. Next, silicone rubber is poured around the master pattern, creating a cavity and a core. The master is then removed once the silicone rubber sets and leaves a void into which several materials may be cast.
Urethane casting designs do not require draft on small parts. Due to the flexibility of silicone molds, cast parts can be removed easily. Undercuts and fine details are replicated using mold inserts where necessary. While a silicone mold wears out quickly, it is vastly more cost effective for very low volume and prototype plastic parts with production-level quality and surface finishes.

Examples include ABS-like and clear to fire-retardant prototypes, cast in UL94V0 rated urethane, and semi-rigid prototypes which emulate the properties of polypropylene.
